{the real winner}

i didn't have the time to devote myself to the winter olympics even though they were held here in canada. i did watch the opening ceremony and i'm recording the closing ceremony as i'm typing this. i'm the kind of person who needs to either go "all in" or not watch at all. i'm regretting a bit that i didn't choose at least one sport to watch 100%. oh well. i'll live. :)
i did feel the excitement in the air though here in canada.
it would have been so fun to be in vancouver for some of the action. i bet there's a HUGE celebration today as canada beat usa (and everyone else) in hockey. that was THE most important thing for canadians. ;)
suomalaiset tietää miten se menee ruotsin kanssa aina. :)
usa seems to be the biggest winner (the most medals).
BUT...
i beg to differ.
for some perspective, let's consider the medal count compared to each country's population:
USA got 1 medal/8,351,351 people.
Canada got 1 medal/1,230,769 people.
Germany got 1 medal/2,733,333 people.
Norway got 1 medal/217,391 people.
Sweden got 1 medal/847,766 people.
Finland got 1 medal/1,060,000 people.
dang it! sweden beat finland. :D but hey, at least we beat them in hockey. big time! :D
the real winner of the winter olympics in my eyes is norway. hands down!
so yey for norway!!!
finland beat canada :D and canada beat usa.
= all is well. :)
ps. my favorite part of the olympics was the aboriginal part of the opening ceremony. loved it!!!! siennan inkkariheimo oli yksi neljästä jotka mainittiin.

ihana kirja! loved this book!
so... i'm discovering nicholas sparks as an author. i loved "dear john" so i thought i'd keep going and see if i like his other works. i had read "nights in rodanthe" and didn't think that book was that amazing, or the movie. but now i'm hooked. i really like nicholas sparks. i'm glad i gave him another chance. after all, "notebook" is one of my favorite movies. i'm reading that one next. :)
can't wait to see this book as a movie too.

olenpa väsy ja ärtsy tänään.
tällä hetkellä olen time outilla. :)

{tottakai}

it sure would be fun to be a designer of things. any things. to see your products in people's homes. or even on a double decker bus in hong kong. how fun would that be!

{tahdon!}

ihanaa! kastehelmeä saa taas. riittääköhän rahat näihin suomen reissulla. mieletön hinku näihin astioihin. arvaatte varmaan miksi näistä tykkään. :)
kastehelmi was designed by oiva toikka in 1964. i'm so excited because i just found out that this product is available for purchase once again. i'm so hoping i'll have enough money to purchase some next time i go to finland. why does everything have to be so stinking expensive in finland though?

{olen vanhanaikainen kai sitten}

the book was great too! i'm glad i saw the movie first and then read the book. i don't know what i'd thought of the movie if i had read the book first. they are different from each other, that's for sure. loved them both.
it drives me nuts that i can't recommend another book which i've read lately. it was great. except that it had so much taking God's name in vain that i just can't recommend it. people forget that "thou shalt not take God's name in vain" is one of the ten commandments. up there with "thou shalt not kill" or "thou shalt not steal". an important commandment. one of the main ones. "if you don't keep the rest of them, you should try to keep at least these ones" kind of thing. i know it's just the way people talk nowadays. they don't even realize what they're doing. even some religious people don't think twice of this habit. but it is one of the ten commandments and it makes me flinch when people say "God" so flippantly. we just don't revere things like people used to, it seems. i know people don't even think what they say but that's exactly my point i guess. maybe we should stop and think every once in awhile.
by the way, people of course can choose how they talk. i'm just saying that for me it's sad that so many things are spoiled by either bad language or this. it's just too bad. that's why i do get so excited when i find a movie or a book that i can recommend.
ps. i know that for most people this isn't even a slightest issue. most of you are probably saying "what? what's the big problem here?"
just raising some awareness here. or complaining out loud i guess. :D
ps. i was supposed to just recommend the above book. the rest just blurted out somehow. :)

{lisää kuvia tältä viikolta}

(read my comment about tree pictures in the previous posting) :D
what i might do when i have some alone time.
winter walks are much more fun when you have a small camera that is easy to bring along. :)

our mall's bathrooms are so fancy nowadays.
and look what came in the mail! valentine's day goodies from wonderful & fun moon (visit her at *moon ko) who's scrapbooking and wit i enjoy so very much.
thank you so much! i can't wait to make something with all this. i think i'll copy one of your pages, moon. i think that would be very appropriate to show my gratitude for all this loveliness. plus then it's more likely that it'll be a great layout. :D
